The 2010 Census Count Question Resolution (CQR) Underway

The 2010 Census Count Question Resolution (CQR) is now underway. The CQR program allows the Census Bureau to make corrections to certain 2010 Census data on the basis of "challenges" by local governments. The program does not allow changes to population counts sent to the President at the end of 2010, but allows challenges that include:

  1. Boundary Challenges that correct inaccurate reporting or recording of boundaries legally in effect on January 1, 2010;
  2. Geocoding Challenges that correct the placement of living quarters and associated population within the correct local government boundaries and 2010 census tabulations blocks; and
  3. Coverage Challenges that add or delete specific living quarters and people associated with them, incorrectly included or excluded due to processing errors.

Challenges to the 2010 Census Count Question Resolution Program counts may be submitted by local governments from now until June 1, 2013. For more information concerning the 2010 Census Count Question Resolution Program, see the CQR Brochure and related Talking Points, or visit the CQR website at www.2010census.gov/about/cqr.
